KDSAP Summer Research Scholarship


The KDSAP Summer Research Scholarship offers members a unique opportunity to deepen their knowledge and exposure to kidney-related research, under direct supervision from world-class nephrology investigators. Up to 4 spots are offered each summer.

GENERAL INFORMATION

  • Submission Deadline: January 31 at 11:59pm EST.

  • Up to 4 students will receive scholarships of $2,000 each, issued in two installments. First half prior to the program started and the second half after research progress report is submitted. Additional need-based funding may be available upon request; sample budget form download .
  • KDSAP Faculty Advisors will evaluate applications and match each scholarship recipient with an institution and mentor for their research. Preference may be indicated but not guaranteed.
  • Research will be conducted for 8 weeks during the months of June-August. Specific dates may vary, depending on student and advisor availability.
  • A variety of opportunities are available, including basic science (bench) , clinical and health related  researches.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Must be an active member of a KDSAP chapter.
  • Must be working towards an undergraduate degree.
  • Must submit the online application and ALL supporting documents by the submission deadline.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Scholarship recipients will be responsible for arranging their own housing, food, and transportation during the summer research.
  • Scholarship recipients must submit progress reports to KDSAP Headquarters by Tuesday, September 6, 2022.
  • Scholarship recipients will be invited to give brief presentations at the annual KDSAP Retreat in the fall.

    • Official transcript. Email E-transcripts to research.scholarship@kdsap.org OR If your institution does not send E-transcripts, please mail your official transcript to: Jennie Kuo, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, 41 Ave. Louis Pasteur, AH 120, Boston, MA 02115.
    • Two letters of recommendation. Please choose two professional or academic recommendation writers and have them email their letters on your behalf to research.scholarship@kdsap.org. The letters should be signed and on official letterhead if they submitted via postal mail, to: Jennie Kuo, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, 41 Ave. Louis Pasteur, AH 120, Boston, MA 02115.
